Poor Mollykins now gets an ear-full of goop each day.
The past couple weeks she's started scratching at her ear a lot. When she got obsessed with the itch to the point of digging her toenails into her ear so hard that she'd yelp, we got her to the vet. It turns out it's just a build up of wax and epithelial debris, so no antibiotics or severe treatment is needed. Phew!
What she does have, though, is a mild enzymatic goop to help break down the junk in there which she gets once a day. She doesn't seem to mind, because it gets her good, quality ear rubbing and scratching to get it down into the ear canal.
What's this? Attention and scratching an itch at the same time? My favorite thing!
Oh, poor girl. I found that I had to flush Bart's ears about 1/month with an ear cleaner to keep him from getting that kind of a buildup. He soon learned that it wasn't a big deal - esp. when a treat followed the process.
